Story Cubes: A different story at every roll! *Review*

Last year I was fortunate enough to go to the September BlogOn conference, it was my first every blogging conference and it was amazing! Speaking to so many other bloggers and PR reps was quite refreshing; on the plus side there was a lot of freebies to take home! I’m going again in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait!

One of the items I received was Rory’s Story Cubes in the Fantasia collection.

Jade was too young to really appreciate these last September but recently we have been loving these now she’s a bit older!

So what is Rory’s Story Cubes I hear you say?

Rory’s Story Cubes are nine little dice that have an image on each side. Each side depicts a different storyline that can be incorporated together to create a complete story. It is the pocket-sized creative story generator that encourages creativity, develops social confidence, enhances language development skills and creates connections and unique moments.

It is housed in a compact magnetic box, Story Cubes are perfect for telling stories wherever you go. All you need to do is:

1.       Simply take all nine cubes and give them a shake.

2.       Roll them.

3.       Then, starting with ‘Once upon a time…’ select the icon that catches your eye first. The objective is to tell a story that link together all nine images.

So, we decided to give it a go! I won’t share each picture on every cube as this post will go on forever, but I let Jade shake the box and roll the cubes:

As you can see they scattered out of the box and created our story!

Even though Jade doesn’t quite understand what to do, she did seemed to like me randomly picking up each piece and creating a story with plenty of sound effects and gestures!

She even had a go herself and picked the order of the cubes.

We had the Fantasia collection which combines the Enchanted, Mythic and Medieval 3-cube MIX sets. Each cube has been specifically designed with a fantasy picture on it, for example a castle, fairy or even a knight:

I can see us using the story cubes for years to come as Jade will no doubt continue to have a creative and imaginative mind. We can build up our collection with different sets to creat an even more unusual story, the possibilities are endless!

This set retails at £9.99 which I think is a reasonable price for something that builds up a child or even an adults creativity, develops social confidence, enhances language development skills and creates connections and unique moments between families.
